Dr. Terry Vaughan was most recently the Medical Director of West Yavapai Guidance Clinic, and has practiced in Prescott for 11 years. She was one of 41 psychiatrists nationally awarded the 2009 "Exemplary Psychiatrist" award by NAMI (the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill). She works with patients suffering from mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance dependence, developmental disabilities and psychotic disorders. She is Board Certified in psychiatry and works with adults and adolescents 13 and up. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association.

Gwen Henderson is an independent consultant and contractor servicing addiction recovery agencies. Gwen has 12 years experience advocating for and servicing individuals impacted by substance abuse addiction, alcoholism and co-occurring disorders. She has trained and worked in the behavioral health and continuum of care field in various components; substance abuse assessor; substance abuse counselor; housing specialist; case management services; residential recovery program manager, general manager, and executive director. Gwen is also in recovery, beginning her journey of sobriety in August 1997. She currently serves on Chapter 5 Board of Directors; MATForce Board of Directors; Project Aware Board of Directors; Yavapai County Re-Entry Steering Committee; Yavapai County Adult Probation Networking for Solutions Committee and Northern Arizona Housing Association (NAHA). Gwen is also the chair-person for the Prescott Recovery Day Celebration Committee.

Heidi is from Wintersville, Ohio, and grew up in an alcoholic family. She attended Alateen meetings as a child and spoke at a convention about how her mother's addiction affected her life. She attended Muskingum College, studying Psychology and Sociology. Following multiple attempts at recovery, she moved to Prescott, entered and graduated from Chapter 5's 26 week Program, and elected to continue in the Chapter 5 transitional living program. There she helped with the Chapter 5 Women's program, took on additional responsibilities and was promoted to the position of Women's House Manager in 2011. Heidi hopes to continue in the recovery field and help other addicts find the happiness she has. She has been clean and sober for nearly 2 years.

Bill Orick is one of our Program Managers and is an active member of the Yavapai Adult Drug and DUI Court programs. Formerly a construction and maintenance worker, he is working towards his Behavioral Health Tech certificate in substance abuse therapy at Yavapai Community College.

Bill drank and used drugs for 32 years and tried many different times to quit but couldn't, until he found his higher power and asked for help. He received his help from the Drug Court program and Chapter 5 where he learned the life changing tools to stay sober. Bill stayed on as manager after graduating our 26 week program. He has been clean and sober since November 3, 2005 and is fulfilling his promise to his higher power to help others in recovery. Bill is truly one of Chapter 5's great success stories.

Chris McGraw has been sober since February 6, 2009. He drank and used for 31 years before surrendering to his Higher Power and receiving guidance and strength from the philosophies of Chapter 5. Working with other addicts and alcoholics has become Chris' ministry and he is dedicated to the Program of Alcoholics Anonymous, the 12 Steps of AA and assisting others with grasping the concept of Higher Power. Chris believes wholeheartedly that Chapter 5's approach of compassion and discipline, as well as the non-profit atmosphere, offer the best residential recovery program that Prescott, AZ has to offer.

Jon started his sobriety in August 1982 and has been working and living the spiritual path since then. He did research for the development of a treatment facility because of the new laws that went into effect in 1982. He went on to become an associate pastor of a spiritual church in Phoenix. His greatest joy today is seeing a person's eyes light up with hope and then faith that "Yes, there is a way, one day at a time".




Father SteveSteve Knight |  Resident Chaplain
"Father Steve" Knight is a retired Episcopal priest and Navy chaplain with 50+ years of sobriety. He is active with Chapter 5 in teaching "Back to Basics", the method used by the first 100 people in AA recovery. His other ministries involve taking the program of recovery to hospitals and institutions.
